Because, the precious metal gold can be beautifully shaped into anything according to buyer taste and fashion sense and also it is considered as an investment or a secondary bank balance as we are all familiar with its value. People value gold, also because of its history where it was used as a source
  • Colours of Gold the most prominent colour of gold is yellow which is favoured most by buyer. Later did as per western culture rose gold and white gold create a rage too but not as much compared to yellow gold.

Gold Colours
Yellow

One of the most preferred colours of gold, yellow gold is mostly used for creating ornaments. It is the purest and natural colour of gold, as the mineral looks golden (yellow) when mined and favoured the most by women as it also suits all skin tones. Its composition includes gold, silver, zinc and copper. It is the most hypo-allergic and malleable of all the gold colours and mostly opted by jewellers.

Rose Gold

Rose gold has been introduced to the jewellery market only recently and more cheaper comparatively to yellow gold. Rose gold metal has a unique pinkish hue that is obtained when copper is blended with yellow gold. The more the percentage of copper is stronger the more pinkish is the gold. Copper is very durable and so this makes rose gold harder than yellow or white gold.

White Gold

In order to obtain white gold, white metals like rhodium, palladium, zinc and nickel are blended with yellow gold. White gold is silvery white in colour and opted by almost everyone as it is considered quite soothing and chic. This metal is more durable and scratch resistant because of presence of rhodium in it.

GOLD PURITY

  • The purity of gold is measured in Karat (K). Although the purest form of gold is available in 24 K, it is quite soft and not durable to make ornaments. So in order to make it durable and long lasting, certain percentage of other metals like copper, nickel, silver and zinc are blended along-with gold. The karat vary from 18, 22, and 24K. Basically more the karat weight increases the purity of the gold increases too. For instance 18K have 75% of gold. 1/24 part (4.1667%). Pure 24K gold is expensive and also not recommended to be worn because of its lack of durability and so gold is mixed with other durable metals.
  • To study the percentage of gold and other metals take a look at the table below. The gold karat chart shows how many parts of gold and how many parts of other metals is used for gold jewellery.......
